Quakerism 101

The West Side Friends will offer a series of programs on Quakerism beginning Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Prairie Hill Waldorf School, N14 W29143 Silvernail Road, Pewaukee. The Quakerism 101 classes will meet at 9:00 a.m. for six 80-minute sessions on the first and third Sundays of the month. The free classes will be led by J.W. Spear, an experienced Friend, who will encourage questions and facilitate discussion of the readings. Anyone interested in knowing more about the Religious Society of Friends, people known as Quakers, is invited to attend.

Quakerism 101 presents an introductory view of Quaker history, beliefs, worship, social witness, and decision-making. The curriculum was developed to familiarize attenders, new members and curious individuals with the faith and practice of Friends. Assigned readings for the course are available for downloading here in the Adult RE section of this website under Committees. The purchase of books is recommended but not required. For more information on the series, contact Becky Evans, West Side convener, at (262) 542-7446 or bevanseditor@yahoo.com, or JW Spear at (414) 687-0518 or jwspear@gmail.com.
